Cosmetic Dentistry
Crowns & Bridges
A crown is an artificial cover used to replace missing portions of teeth. The crown ‘caps’ a tooth in order to restore or improve the shape, size and appearance of the tooth. They are widely used in cosmetic dentistry. Bridges can be described as ‘mountings’ for artificial teeth that are attached at each end to the natural teeth; they can be used to replace one or more teeth.
Adult Orthodontics
Orthodontics are no longer just for children. Many adults who have crowded, crooked or protruded teeth can now benefit from the latest techniques. We even offer ‘invisible’ orthodontics so no-one needs to know you are even having the treatment! (Please see our Invisalign section).
Invisalign
At Richard Miller-White, we offer the latest in orthodontic technology- Invisalign. In fact, we are the biggest Invisalign users in the area. You’re never too old to straighten your teeth! Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with the movement of teeth. Many people often think that if you don’t have treatment as a child that nothing can be done- not true! Some are put off by the thought of wearing unsightly ‘train-track’ braces for up to 3 years-no need to worry!
So, why Invisalign?
Invisalign uses clear, removable aligners that gradually move your teeth into the desired position, all while being virtually invisible. Treatment time is typically shorter than with traditional braces, and you’ll see results faster.
With Invisalign, you get a convenient, discreet solution at an affordable price – often more budget-friendly than other alternatives. Get the smile you’ve always wanted, without the hassle!
White Fillings
There is no longer any need to have to put up with unsightly ‘black/silver’ amalgam fillings. The white fillings that we provide are made from a very strong composite material that is bonded to your natural tooth. They are long-lasting, natural looking, very strong and free of mercury. We recommend this material for new fillings or to replace amalgams.
Composite Bonding
If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your smile, composite bonding might be the option for you. Composite bonding is a dental procedure used to repair or enhance the appearance of teeth using a tooth-coloured resin material. The resin is applied directly to the tooth surface, where it is moulded and shaped to restore damaged, chipped, or discoloured teeth. This is a quick, minimally invasive treatment that offers natural-looking results often completed in a single visit!
Veneer Removal
Laser dentistry can be used for veneers removal:
- Veneers or crowns are used to change the shape of the tooth to achieve a ‘perfect smile’, by attaching a wafer-thin laminate to the tooth to improve the colour and shape of the tooth. These need to be replaced approximately every 10 years.
- Laser veneer removal offers a more pleasant experience as it reduces removal time from 30 minutes to as little as 5 minutes!
Veneers
If you have always wanted a ‘perfect smile’ then dental veneers could well be the answer.
Veneers are wafer-thin laminates of tooth coloured material (which can be either porcelain, ceramic or composite bonding material). They are cemented to the front surface of teeth to improve their cosmetic appearance.
When are Dental Veneers used?
If you have badly stained teeth that cannot be improved by teeth whitening or hygiene treatments, veneers can cover any existing stains on the teeth.
Teeth that have been chipped or broken, can benefit from veneers. A small chip on a tooth can quickly be repaired with composite veneers. A single damaged tooth can easily be repaired with a porcelain veneer that has the same characteristics and colour as your natural teeth.
If you have gaps or spaces between your teeth, these can be ‘covered up’ using veneers and delivering a more even smile.
If you have slightly crooked teeth then these can be corrected by dental veneers. However, if teeth are particularly crooked, then orthodontics will be the better solution.
Smile Design
How happy are you with your smile?
Do you need to give a great first impression? When you meet anyone for the first time whether it be a date, a job interview or an important meeting, a brilliant smile and the confidence that it gives you can make all the difference. Many top celebrities such as Tom Cruise, Cheryl Cole and Miley Cyrus have had smile makeovers to improve their image and instil greater self-confidence.
It’s amazing how much of an effect that our smile can have on our appearance and also how we feel about ourselves. Many of us can spend thousands of pounds on hairdressing, clothes, anti-age creams and make-up yet it is not always realised how much that teeth can give away our age.
When the majority of us look in the mirror, we will see something that we would like to change. Perhaps the colour of our teeth. It could be crooked teeth. It could be the shape of our teeth or our gums. It could be chips or cracks. Whatever the issue, most of us would like to change it.
At Richard Miller-White we help our patients transform their smiles into something that they can be proud of through our smile designs. Using a variety of techniques including tooth whitening, orthodontics, crowns, bridges and veneers we can deliver a result that will delight you.
