 Same-Day Smiles With Dental Implants

  • Now there is a practical and proven alternative treatment known as “Same Day Smiles”
  • The Same Day Smiles Treatment Concept is the name of an effective and efficient technique normally using 4 or 5 dental implants in the upper or lower jaw to secure a permanent set of natural looking, replacement teeth.
  • The Same Day Smiles Treatment Concept allows for  long term, secure, permanent, fixed teeth and a more natural smile in just one day!
  • Food can become a pleasure again — you can have confidence to chew and the benefit of taste. You can lead the same life as someone with a full set of natural teeth!
  • Dental implants can never replace your natural teeth but they are the next best thing. Regular dental and hygiene visits are required to keep your implants and bridgework as healthy as possible.

Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy)

Whether with conventional endodontic techniques or laser dentistry technology, these allow dentists to complete root canal treatments precisely and in a less invasive way.

This technology allows dentists to complete a root canal and repair tissues inside the tooth in a more precise and less invasive way.

Dentists can clean the complex anatomy of the tooth with greater access to the canals which improves efficiency. This treatment can be completed in a single visit and the patient will experience very minimal discomfort.

Restorative Laser Dentistry

Using laser technology means that the dentist can remove decay more precisely and preserve a healthy tooth structure that can’t be achieved with a traditional drill.

Benefits include less pain discomfort with little to no anaesthesia required, because of this chair time is shortened dramatically.

All things considered, this technology drastically reduces patient’s anxiety and fears about the treatment.

Dental Sleep Medicine

  • If you’re suffering from disturbed sleep, you’re not alone. It is estimated that over 1.5 million people in the UK suffer from the condition, and it is known that more than 80% have not been diagnosed or treated. Globally there are over a billion people who have this debilitating condition.
  • Following an extensive dental and sleep-related evaluation, Dr Richard will be able to direct you to the appropriate route to take to help you.

Periodontology (Gum Treatments)

Periodontology is the treatment of gum and tooth disorders, and it can include a variety of procedures and techniques, such as:

  • Scaling and root planing: a deep cleaning technique that helps treat gum disease and periodontitis. We use lasers for this treatment as well as conventional techniques.
  •  Medications: Rinses, gels and other products that contain chlorhexidine or antibiotics can help treat gum disease.
  • Water Laser Treatment:  Waterlase Laser Dentistry | BIOLASE
  • Transmucosal photodynamic therapy (tPDT): A non-invasive laser treatment that uses a photosensitive dye to kill bacteria and stimulate healing.
  • Regeneration Techniques
  • Other aspects of periodontology include:
  • Advice and diagnosis: A periodontist can provide advice and diagnosis for gum and tooth disorders.
  • Maintenance: A periodontist or hygienist can perform periodontal maintenance cleanings to check gum health and measure pockets around the teeth
  • Surgery: Depending on the severity of the infection, surgery may be required.
  • Early diagnosis and treatment are key to successful periodontal treatment. You can help by practicing good oral hygiene, managing health conditions that may impact dental health, and stopping tobacco use.

Dental Implants

Dental implants can often be the best solution for replacing missing teeth. The implant is made of titanium, which is the most biocompatible material to place in the mouth; a tooth structure is secured on top of the implant to create a comfortable, life-like replacement.

The fear of losing our teeth is something many of us worry about, but tooth loss does not have to be a problem.

Dental implants provide a safe and reliable method for replacing missing teeth, whether you have lost one tooth or several teeth, we have a solution for you. Your new teeth look and feel natural, and allow you to live, laugh and enjoy life with total confidence.

We offer denture wearers a complete solution to have ‘life without dentures’. Please ask about our Same Day Smiles Treatment Concept. This is a complete set of teeth fixed to 4 implants, it’s a permanent solution and can be completed in just one day.

You never have to take your dentures out again!

Dental implants have a high success rate as long as patients have very good oral hygiene and visit their dentist on a regular basis.

Children’s Dentistry

At Richard Miller-White, Barton-le-Clay, we want to ensure that your little ones start with the best dental habits! Children who visit the dentist early tend to have less issues in teenage years and later life with their teeth and gums. It also means that they become comfortable with visiting the dentist and are much less likely to become phobic.

We offer a wide variety of dental treatments for children at Richard Miller-White including:

  1.  Examinations
  2. Fissure Sealants
  3.  White fillings
  4. Laser dentistry

Laser Dentistry With Waterlase

Waterlase Dentistry is one of the most advanced laser dental technologies available today. It was developed by BIOLASE Technology, the leader in dental lasers. BIOLASE dental lasers have been used to treat millions of patients worldwide.

No Drills, No Needles, it’s Pain-Free!

Heat and vibration are the causes of most pain associated with the drill. Since Hydrokinetic cutting does not transmit heat or vibration most dental procedures can be performed with no pain, virtually eliminating the need for anaesthesia in most cases.

The laser’s pinpoint accuracy is precise enough that your dentist can leave behind as much healthy tooth structure as possible, allowing you to keep your teeth longer.

Effectively performs numerous soft tissue (gum) procedures with little or no bleeding. The laser gives your dentist a new high-tech tool for many procedures that previously required referral to a specialist. Now you can have them performed during your scheduled appointment.

Avoids many common problems of the high speed drill, including cracks in the teeth from the vibration and rapid turning of the frill burrs which can weaken your teeth, creating future problems. The laser sterilises as it cuts, leaving less chance for bacterial contamination.

The Water laser prepares your teeth in a way that maximises the bonding of tooth coloured fillings, allowing them to last longer.

The following treatments can combine laser dentistry with conventional treatments:

  • Endodontics
  •  Periodontics
  • Dental Implants
  • Paediatric Dentistry
  • Restorative Dentistry
  • Smile Design with Waterlase
  • Surgical
  • Laser Bacterial Reduction/ Non-surgical Perio
  • Frenectomies
  • Tooth whitening
  • Dental Pain Therapy
  • Crown and Veneer Removal
  • Gum Depigmentation
  • Skin Resurfacing

Dental Hygienist

At Richard Miller- White, preventative dentistry is at the heart of everything that we do.

More time spent with our Hygienist Lorna Stewart with specialist education on prevention, will mean less time having teeth filled or removed and less cost to you, the patient. Something we are sure that you will welcome.

Better oral health is increasingly recognised as important to the body as a whole and not just the mouth. So, what are our 8 top tips to help you enjoy better oral health?

  1. Stop Smoking. As well as the well known problems relating to lung cancer and heart disease, smoking is a major contributory factor in oral cancer. It can also cause gum inflammation and leads to gum recession which increases plaque build-up.
  2. Enjoy alcohol in moderation. Alcohol is another contributory factor in oral cancer.
  3. Avoid fizzy and sugary snacks. These lead to a massive increase in plaque which can lead to tooth decay and gum disease.
  4. Try and restrict food intake to mealtimes. Oral bacteria benefit from the constant nourishment that snacking provides. If you must snack, then try and choose foods like fresh fruit or cheese which are better for your teeth.
  5. Eat a well balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals. This will lead to healthier gums and therefore healthier teeth.
  6. Brush your teeth carefully twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. (Children under 7 should only use a pea size amount of low fluoride toothpaste).
  7. Floss everyday. Ask us how if you are not sure, do not worry, a lot of people do not know how to floss properly until they are shown!
  8. Visit Lorna, our hygienist, for regular appointments.

Computer guided implant placement

As you may imagine, the placing of a dental implant requires precision accuracy and a great deal of skill. Richard Miller-White utilises specialist software called X-Guide to help deliver the kind of results that he and his patients expect.

What is X-Guide?

X-Guide is a dynamic 3D navigation system that delivers real-time interactive guidance of drill position during surgery, giving you the ability to improve the precision and accuracy of implant POSITION, ANGLE and DEPTH.Very often, Richard will send patients for a CT Scan to get the most accurate representation of your teeth and jaw. A CT Scan will provide high resolution 3D images.

What next?

Using X-Guide, Richard is able to place ‘virtual implants’ and enable him to make adjustments before he even opens your mouth! A model is then made using what is known as a surgical guide.

What does all this mean to me?

More accurate means a better fit, better longevity and less chance of any problems arising.
